In Windows Media Player, select Tools, Options, File Types and place a tick next to the file type that you would like Media Player to open. This sets the default player.

Start QuickTime then %26gt; Edit %26gt; Preferences %26gt; QuickTime Preferences, choose the File Types tab and Uncheck them all.
