How do you make vlc media player not be your default mpeg/avi media player?

I made the necessary changes on windows media player and it still doesn't change. I changed it for mp3 for itunes but am at a loss for what to do. Any help would be appreciated.How do you make vlc media player not be your default mpeg/avi media player?
- You can view your file associations, and customize them manually - My Computer%26gt;Tools%26gt;Folder Options%26gt;File Types Tab.

-The safer method, is to launch Winodows Media Player, click on Tools%26gt;Options%26gt;File Types Tab

Check mark every box you wish WMP to handle, click on APPLY, then OK. Exit WMP.How do you make vlc media player not be your default mpeg/avi media player?
you could right click the files you want to play, click %26quot;open with%26quot; and choose WMP.. I think it asks afterwards if you want that to be the default program that file type will use.How do you make vlc media player not be your default mpeg/avi media player?
Instead of double-clicking the movie file to play it do the following.

Right-Click the file and select %26quot;Open With%26quot; then %26quot;Choose Program%26quot;

When the %26quot;Open With%26quot; dialog window appears find the program you would like to use to play the video %26amp; select it (so it's highlighted)

Put a check in the %26quot;Always use the selected program to open this kind of file%26quot; box.

Hit OK.

You can do this for any type of file to change the program it's associated with (known as 'file associations').
