How do I make windows media player my default music player?

I have music on my pc that just show up as a blue music note icon and %26quot;mp3%26quot; above it. If I put this music onto a disk, nothing plays. How do I get my music icon to automatically show up as a windows media file instead of this annoying mp3. I also have itunes because of my ipod so maybe this is where the problem comes from?

My windows media player options are something like Library, Now playing, burn and sync. I don't know how to change the settings.

It's Windows Vista can anyone help!How do I make windows media player my default music player?

To associate the files with a specific program, do the following:

Find the files you wish to associate and right click on them%26lt;

Choose 'Open With'

Select 'Choose Default Program' from the menu

You will be able to select which program you wish to use from a list. To ensure every file of the same type opens with the program, select the check box 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.

As for burning the files to a disc; some CD/DVD players can't read play MP3 files. You might need to convert the MP3s to another format, or use another program to burn them to the disc (Windows Media Player does it, and so will Nero, etc).
