i know it sounds stupid, but read the question here: i change the settings for my mp3 files - i go to properties and change it to wmp (windows media player). right after that, i click on the same button - change default program (in the properties menu) and it's still the same program. tried to remove from both programs to read mp3 files - it shows on quick time in default programs anyway. who knows the reason? i might have a virus. could that be a reason? and what kind of viruses makes such thing?How to change default program?
More information about what type of computer you have (Windows, Mac, Linux...) and what operating system you are using (Mac OSX, Windows XP, Vista...) would go a long way in narrowing down your answer. However, going by my experience with a Windows XP machine, you can change the program that opens a file by:
1. Right-clicking the file
2. Choose %26quot;Open with%26quot;
3. Click %26quot;Choose program...%26quot;
4. Find the correct program to open the file type from the list.
5. Make sure you check the box on that screen that says %26quot;Always use the selected program to open this type of file%26quot;. This is the key to making sure your selection stays permanent.
If your desired program isn't in the initial list of programs, click the %26quot;Browse%26quot; button and navigate to the .exe of the program you want. Be sure to choose an appropriate program for the file type.

Are you an administor to system? Usually this is due to lack of admin rights.
