Real Player is my default setting (with Windows XP). How can I change the default to Windows Media player?

I would like to make Windows Media Player my default setting (instead of Real Player), although I might also want to change back to Real Player at some time.

1) open media player

2) open the options

3) click on the file types tab

4) click 'select all'

5) click ok..

at the bottom, check the %26quot;Select All%26quot; checkbox.



Press Okay. You are now done.

No prob. Here is the procedure:

- Launch your WMP

- Go to Tools/Options...

- Select the %26quot;File Types%26quot; tab

- Select the file types that you would like WMP to be your default player.

Conversely, if you would like to switch the default player of some of the media file formats back to RealPlayer, just follow the procedure below:

- Launch Realplayer

- Select Tools/Preferences...

- Click on Content/Media Types...

- To manually select the media types that you want RP to be the default player, click on the radio button that says %26quot;Manually configure media types for RealPlayer%26quot;.

- The %26quot;Select...%26quot; button by then will be enabled. Click on it.

- At the resultant pop-up dialog box, check (tick) the file formats that you would like RealPlayer to be the default player.

right click a file format(say video file) which you want always to open with windows media player..click properties..in open with...click change there choose the program you need to play the file, here choose windows media player, click ok..now all video files will open with windows media player, to change back same method and choose another program..thats as simple as that
