Well it depends on your version of Windows, but the easiest way is to right click on the file, then click %26quot;open with%26quot; then pick Windows Media Player and make sure you check the checkbox that says %26quot;always use the selected program to open this type of file.%26quot; The downside of this is that you will have to do it for every type of file you want to associate with Windows Media Player.

If you have a newer version of XP you can just go to the start menu and there should be a link for %26quot;set program access and defaults.%26quot; Yours will probably be set on Custom, just click the down arrow to the right and it will open up a list, one of the items should be default media player and there you would select Windows Media Player for all applicable file types. But I don't know if your computer will have this, my old version of XP did not.How do you change your default media player on your computer?
Right clicking on the file will change the way that particular file plays, but won't change your default player.

Click on Start %26gt; Control Panel %26gt; Folder Options. Click on file types and scroll down to mp3. Click on it once and click on the change button. Locate Windows Media Player in the list, if its not there click browse and navigate to WMP.exe. Click apply/ok and it should remember the program.
