How do you change the default player for music controls on laptop ?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 and on the keyboard near the power there are music controls, like most laptops. These controls are defaulted to only work with windows media player, how can I change these controls to instead work with Rhapsody?How do you change the default player for music controls on laptop ?
what is the OS?? XP and Vista are a little different places to make the changes.
