1)Click on Start.
2)Select Set Program Access and Defaults.
3)Select Custom.
4)And under Choose a default media player:.
5)Tick the player you want and also check the box that says:-
[] Enable Access to this program
6)Uncheck everything except the above stated.

After locating the media file which you intend to open, follow the steps below :-
1. Right click at file (another window opens)
2. Scroll down to %26quot;Open with%26quot; (another smaller window opens)
3. Scroll down to %26quot;Choose program%26quot;
4. Scroll down the new window and look for %26quot;windows media player (WMP)%26quot;
5. If you want to WMP as the default player, click the small little box %26quot;Always use the selected program to open this kind of file%26quot;
