Check all file types in Windows media player
Extra - Options - File Types
When you have done that, WMP11 will be your default media player. Are you sure you do want to do that ?? Windows Media Player is the worse player in excistance.
To be able to play certain file types you need to download all kind of different codecs.
You should download Gomplaer

It is free and playes all File Types and has all the necessary codecs already.
Go to preferences - Others - All File Types All Codecs
Audio, DVD
Right click on player for menu , you see Control Panel (F7)
click CP or hit F7. Now you can make nice pictures of the movie you are playing.
