i want my media player to be windows media but for some reason when i download a video or even try to play any sort of media real player comes up i dont want it to how do i make windows my default player again?How do you change your default media player???

All you have to do is open up WMP and click on Options. Then click on %26quot;File Types%26quot; and check all the options. Then click OK..This should do the trick..How do you change your default media player???
Try going to Control Panel,

Add/Remove Programs,

Set Program Access and Defaults,

tick Custom and click on the down arrows,

Change the settings there.

If you have the video or audio file saved on your desktop, right click on it and choose properties. On the front tab, it will say open with, if you see a program set to if, click the button next to it and it will give you a list of programs to choose front.



Then click on media player (or the program you want to choose from) and then check the box that tells you to use this program for similar file types, or what ever.



Do this for all avi, mp3's and Type will be set to open up iwth that program.

Use choose program select window media from window and on the bottom check the box (always use the selected program to open this kind of file)How do you change your default media player???

There should be a thing under tools or settings that you can go to once you open windows media player up, and you want the option that says *make your default player* That way all your movies and audio will switch over to windows, if you cant find it, just re-install the player and it will be a option you can choose during installation, i hope this helps, i dont like real player eitherHow do you change your default media player???

open explorer --%26gt;tools--%26gt;folder options--%26gt; then select the file types then select which type of file u want to change for eg.if u want to change the .mp3 file extension file to winamp player seek for .mp3 then select change on the bottom of the popup window then select which player u want to play default

This is a file association issue. Easy fix:



1 - Open a music folder

2 - Right-click any MP3 or WMA file

3 - Go to, Open With in the menu and choose the Choose Program option at the bottom of the next menu

4 - Browse to the VLC player and click it

5 - Place a check in the box below the list that says: %26quot;Always use the selected program... %26quot;

6 - Click OK

Fantastic and thanks for the answer. I've gone though all file types chosen 'Choose Program' ticked the 'always use' box, and seem to have banished windows player which I very much dislike. MUCH easier than a reformat. LOL!

When you open the start menu under Search type :Default Programs.



It should be there theres a list of Programs and the associates you can set.

Most music files are .mp3 so under the MP3 tab choose select program and select iTunes. You should probably do it for MPEG4 as well.
